You guys! I went to an actual Christmas tree farm and I am SO excited to share all about it!
Are you looking for a fun activity for you and your spouse or your whole family?
Then you need to head to the Timber Trails Tree Farm and experience the fun for yourself!
You can explore the trails, cut your own trees and more!
Before I tell you more about this awesome place, I have a confession:
I’m 30 years old and I had never been to a Christmas tree farm before.
Crazy, I know.
I grew up in Paraguay and we were taught that having a Christmas tree was “worldly and ungodly.”
Therefore, we never visited tree farms because they didn’t exist there.
Fast forward to years later, Canada now our home, and my family started putting up a tree, a tradition which I now continue in our own home.
Timber Trails Tree Farm Experience
I’m one of those people who takes photos of everything.
It’s something I’ve always done, even before I ever started blogging.
So needless to say, when I saw this sign of course I had to snap a photo in my sheer excitement.
You’d think I’d never driven past this sign before. 😉
I honestly wasn’t planning to write a blog post about this – bloggers will say “never make it about yourself,” but I want for this to be a two-way thing where we both get to know one another.
Of course the main focus is always on decor tips and DIY projects, but I also love sharing deeper thoughts and experiences from time to time as well, while still helping you out as best as I can.
That being said…
We walked around the property looking at the pre-cut trees they have available.
They offer two choices for picking a tree:
- Cut your own – You can grab one of the saws provided and cut your own tree from the field.
- Pre-cut – Walk through the lot and find your favorite fresh cut tree.
After we had looked at these trees, we went inside the cute little shop and got some hot chocolate.
Once back outside, I noticed they also had a bonfire area and a petting zoo, which is great for families with kids who want to keep them entertained.
Walking the Tree Farm Trail
With drinks in hand, we proceeded down the path and started exploring the tree farm further away from the lot.
Can you tell I had my husband take quite a few photos of me?! I was so excited to get to experience this with him.
The fact that he surprised me with the date was so special, our own little “Hallmark Channel” movie moment. (I’m a legit movie nerd ;)).
My entire theme for Christmas decor this year was centered around a “tree farm.”
It started with a red truck I bought last year during Boxing Week sales, followed by some woodland animal ornaments.
Then this year, I was seeing red trucks everywhere, coupled with every Hallmark Channel movie having a lets-visit-a-tree-farm moment.
It dawned on me that this would be such a fun theme (also my first time doing a Christmas “theme”).
You can see my entire house decorated here at my Christmas Tree Farm Home Tour.
Once we got back from the trails, we went back inside to warm up one more time (it was quite cold that day).
We enjoyed sitting in front of the fireplace (I didn’t include pictures of it, I figured I’d best leave that a surprise when you go visit), and the view of this beautiful Christmas tree in the corner.
It was an amazing experience I won’t ever forget.
We didn’t end up getting a tree (we usually go with a fake one), but we were there for the experience above all else.
Maybe one day we’ll get a real one, but you can bet we will be returning to Timber Trails Tree Farm in the future!
Have you ever been to a Christmas tree farm? How did it go?
