Whether you’re working on a project or working on yourself, my desire is to encourage you along the way.
I firmly believe that thriving in life begins in the home.
The place where we grow up, learn about responsibilities, get on our knees and pray, dream, fall down, work hard and get back up again.
It’s where our stories begin and it’s where we have the most impact on ourselves and on those living there.
It’s also where our spaces and the feel of those spaces have a direct impact on our lives.
If your spaces feel chaotic and cluttered and you’re disheartened by what surrounds you, your mind will feel chaotic, cluttered and disheartened as well.
If, on the other hand, you’re creating an atmosphere you enjoy, you’ll be more comfortable and relaxed. Whether that means organizing some rooms or buying some new (or old) decor pieces to create a cozy vibe, it will leave a lasting imprint on you and those living in your home.
Sure, they may not all be crazy about decorating the way you are. But everyone can appreciate a home where soul and personality have been poured into it, where the care is reflected all around them.
This happens all the time when people get ready to sell a house.
They paint that rusty back door, rearrange some furniture or get some updated light fixtures to increase the value of the home.
Then they stand back in awe, wondering why they didn’t put more effort in while THEY were living there? Wondering why they didn’t allow themselves to make the most of their home and enjoy it in to its fullest potential.
A lot of times we don’t even think about it, but our surroundings play a huge role in the way we think and operate.
Just to be clear, I’m not talking about creating a Pinterest Perfect Home.
Because one, they don’t exist. Two, every home is different and will have different needs and challenges to address.
Whatever your situation is, whether you’d like to rip out the entire kitchen and start fresh or just get a cute sign without feeling guilty about it, just know that it’s a journey.
It’s learning to look for the things that bring you joy, even as there are things in your home you’d like to change.
It’s learning to not feel guilty about dreaming and wanting a nice home, because in case no one has told you this, it’s not a crime.
It’s learning to be grateful and not compare your home to a neighbor or a friend’s home.
