I’m all about supporting small shops, and today I’m sharing one of my favorites with you!
I’ll never forget when I my friend messaged me about PineAndSparrowCo.
There’s a bit of a story to it, so if you don’t mind, I’d love to share it with you while I simultaneously also share her beautiful handcrafted decor and projects from her small shop with you.
When One Small Shop Changed Everything
How pretty is this “Grateful” pillow cover? I love how clean and simple it is – it really would work well in any home no matter what your decor style is.
I’ve used it in our sunroom (as you can see, on the couch), on this rocking chair, on a small bench, in our bedroom – that’s the awesome thing about throw pillows, you can always switch it up and move them around.
I was so excited when this came in the mail because I’d had my eye on this kind of throw pillow cover for a while. It has that farmhouse vibe which I love so much.
Part 1:
I was in the beginning stages of building my blog, and I had this gut feeling that I needed to niche it down to just home decor.
But I was terrified because I felt like I didn’t know nearly enough to do that. I hadn’t even been on Instagram for a year and had barely scratched the surface.
So I prayed to God about it.
And the more time passed, the less I felt like writing about organizing and cleaning.
I love learning the hacks and I’ve cleaned for half of my life, but I didn’t feel the passion to share that in the way I felt with home decor and creating beautiful spaces.
This styled tray was one of my most popular photos of this Christmas season on Instagram. You know what I think the secret is?
That gorgeous “Merry Christmas” sign! I mean, look at the stunning detail. I loooove the wreath bordering the words, and those colors are even more beautiful in person.
Mallory makes other signs as well (she even has a cute set for a nursery), so if you’ve been on the hunt for some, go check out her Etsy shop!
Part 2:
So one day my friend messaged me saying that PineAndSparrowCo was looking for a brand rep. I hadn’t heard of them before, but I started following Mallory’s account and learning about her small shop.
You guys, I looove small shops. They carry so many unique and well crafted items, everything from decor to bedding to signs to baskets – you name it, it’s most likely on Etsy!
And so, as terrified as I was, I applied to be a brand rep. I know there may be those who tune out, but this experience literally changed my life.
See, the thing was, she was only looking for one brand rep. What happened next, even I could barely believe.
Do you see those three wooden blocks on the tray? Those are actually magnets that can be stuck on a fridge!
Aren’t they the cutest thing?!
I love that you can display them in other ways as well, like I did here as a filler piece on my tray.
Mallory makes mini signs as well, perfect for your home or as a gift for your loved ones.
Part 3:
I had a Direct Message from Mallory saying she had chosen not one, not two, but three brand reps because she loved each one of our accounts and couldn’t decide between them.
It was shocking and incredible at the same time.
I had prayed for a sign to niche down to a home decor blog, and here it was. God had answered my prayer through Mallory and her small shop.
It was scary – a good scary – saying yes to this opportunity and leaving behind the blog topics I was familiar with but not passionate about.
I love these products from Mallory’s shop. They’re amazing quality, they look beautiful and work so well for my home.
I also have another sign from her but didn’t include it here due to it not being a Christmas piece. It includes the lyrics “Then Sings My Soul” and I love that song and the sign.
Part 4:
There’s been a lot of ups and downs since this amazing experience working with Mallory. Blogging is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but also the most incredible.
I’ll always look back fondly on that time in December 2017 when she reached out to me and everything changed.
Never underestimate the power of being kind and giving someone a chance. You never know how deeply you could impact their life.
In fact, you could even play a part in God’s answering of their prayer.
Tell me friends, is there someone who has impacted you this Christmas season? Send them a text, give them a call or send them a sweet gift as a thank you.
