Today I’m sharing my updated thrifted candlestick that I found at a thrift store.
If you’ve been around here any amount of time, you’ll know that I love going to thrift stores.
There’s something so fun about entering a place with vintage items and the unknown of what you might discover.
Of course, not all of it is “pretty vintage” or worth buying, but every now and then I come across a gem and see the potential of the piece.
That’s what happened when I saw this IKEA candlestick during one of my thrifting adventures.
I didn’t like the wood tone and knew some paint would freshen it up big time.
Updating a Thrifted IKEA candlestick with Paint
As you can see, it just looked so bland with this wood tone. But I loved the detailing and the paint completely transformed it.
I was in the middle of doing my kitchen cabinets and since I had my HomeRight Finish Max Paint Sprayer out anyway, I brought out a few random items to paint with the sprayer as well.
Step 1: I cleaned the candlestick with a damp rag.
Step 2: Did the first coat of Benjamin Moore White Dove paint in my paint sprayer. Even strokes going back and forth, once per side.
Step 3: Did one more coat and allowed it to dry.
This was the Benjamin Moore White Dove paint and it really made the candlestick come alive.
I loved using this piece in my entrance as part of my fall decor. Doesn’t it just look so pretty?! It was so fun updating this thrifted candlestick.
I’m telling you, never be afraid to buy thrifted items if you can see the potential in it. Sometimes a simple update can do wonders.
Whether it’s paint or changing out hardware or fabric, there are easy ways to give a piece new life and add unique items to your home.
